Tokocha is a part-time London based ceramics studio run by Fabienne.

 

Influenced by Asian craft and Western design, the work centres on simple, elegant forms and expressive glazes, with the aim of creating objects for everyday rituals.

In the pursuit of personal expression, some pieces are finished with hand-painted details influenced by Qingbai and Delftware, bringing together two ceramic traditions in quiet conversation.

The studio's name 'tokocha' reflects my identity. It is a portmanteau of the Indonesian word 'toko' (with roots in Chinese Hokkien and widely used in the Netherlands to describe an Asian store) and 'cha' an interpretation of my family name. ​
